Mariah Carey flies high at Palm Springs film fest

Us Weekly called it a "slushy" speech and E! called it "lush-ious."

"Please forgive me because I'm a little bit um ... yeah!" the diva said between peals of laughter as she and director Lee Daniels joked around onstage.
Backstage, reports USA TODAY's Arienne Thompson, Mariah's handler barked "just photos" and made sure the honoree was photographed only on her right side. One of her bodyguards looked stressed out, while a few other members of her entourage discussed whether or not the car was outside waiting.
