Kanye West Expected To Be Charged In Airport Altercation

Kanye West is expected to be slapped with three misdemeanor charges stemming from an alleged airport altercation with paparazzi in September, according to the Los Angeles Times.

West was cleared of all charges last year by the Los Angeles County district attorney's office. Six months after the rapper's dustup with TMZ photographers, however, the Los Angeles city attorney reportedly will look to hit West with new charges on Wednesday (March 18), which could include vandalism, battery and grand theft. The Times reports that all the charges will be misdemeanors; the DA's office initially pursued felony charges against West before dropping everything.

In September, West and his road manager, Don "Don C." Crowley, were involved in a scuffle with TMZ photographers while waiting for a flight to Honolulu. While walking through the terminal, West and Crowley were met by a photographer and videographer for the gossip site who captured the rapper on camera. An altercation ensued between the four men, and video posted on TMZ.com at the time showed West grabbing a camera and throwing it to the ground, smashing it. Crowley also engaged in a scuffle with a photographer and threw a camera to the ground as well. Crowley was cleared of all felony charges by the DA's office.

West blogged about the incident after being cleared, claiming he doesn't have a problem with the paparazzi but that the particular photographer crossed the line.

"I'm cool with the paparazzi," he wrote. "This guy wasn't cool. I gotta work now. ... I'll rant later!"
