Angelina Jolie tops Celebrity 100

Angelina Jolie is now the most powerful celebrity in the world, taking the No. 1 spot on Forbes' 2009 Celebrity 100 list, which ranks stars from the film, TV, music and sports worlds based on entertainment-related earnings as well as exposure in the media.

This pushes Oprah Winfrey, who held the top spot for two consecutive years, down to No. 2 on a list dominated by females.

Being in the spotlight throughout the past 12 months brought Jolie to the top of the list. However, Winfrey remains the highest-paid, earning $275 million over the past year, compared with Jolie's $27 million.

Madonna's "Hard Candy" tour helped her rise 18 spots on the list to No. 3. She earned $110 million. Beyonce Knowles, who earned $87 million this past year, remains in the same spot as last year at No. 4.

Tiger Woods, who remains the highest-paid athlete in the world, was bumped down three spots to No. 5, making him the highest-ranking male celebrity.

Thanks to his latest tour, Bruce Springsteen returns as No. 6 on the list this year, while Steven Spielberg takes the No. 7 spot, up from No. 13 last year. He pulled in $150 million last year with the release of the latest "Indiana Jones" movie, amongst others.

Jennifer Aniston took spot No. 8 (up from No. 17) with Brad Pitt, her ex, close behind at No. 9, up one spot. The No. 10 spot was taken by Kobe Bryant, who makes his first appearance in the top 10.

Many wondered whether or not Barack Obama would make the list this year, becoming the first president to appear in Forbes' Celebrity 100. Indeed, he sits at No. 49 after a historic election brought his fame to a new level and helped him sell over 1 million books.

Other newcomers to the list include Alec Baldwin (No. 91) and Meryl Streep (No. 64), as well as country musicians Toby Keith (No. 59) and Rascal Flatts (No. 42). Rising music star Taylor Swift also made the list at No. 69.

Other notable celebrities include Miley Cyrus at No. 29 and Ryan Seacrest, who sits at No. 44. 50 Cent, coincidentally, sits at No. 50.
