The Ticker

Ellen DeGeneres' campaign to get on the cover of O magazine paid off Friday when Oprah Winfrey offered to share one with her. Winfrey called DeGeneres during Friday's "Oprah Winfrey Show" and made the offer. DeGeneres, who has been pitching the idea on her "Ellen" talk show, told Winfrey: "I can't believe you're serious about this. I'm freaking out right now." Needless to say, she accepted. ... President Barack Obama's visit with Jay Leno on the "Tonight Show" drew an 11.2 rating, according to Nielsen—nearly triple the show's season average. The number was the highest since January 2005, when "Tonight" paid tribute to the late Johnny Carson. ... Billy Corgan announced Friday that Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlain, who joined the band in 1988, has left the group.
