Obama plans concert for Stevie Wonder

The White House is planning a concert this month to honor Stevie Wonder, whose music provided part of President Barack Obama's campaign soundtrack.

The White House says the president and first lady Michelle Obama will present Wonder a Library of Congress award on Feb. 25. The concert will be broadcast the next day on PBS as part of its "Performance at the White House" series.

The award-winning and chart-topping Wonder performed at the Democratic National Convention in Denver on the night Obama accepted his party's nomination. He also performed at a concert during the week of Obama's inauguration.

His song "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours" became a theme song during the campaign. Obama also used "Higher Ground" during campaign stops. - AP

Obama is TIME’s Person of the Year

The editors at TIME say, “The Person of the Year” is the person who most affected the news for better or worse.” There’s no surprise that this year’s Person of the Year is the president-elect of the USA Barrack Obama.

In naming the President-elect, TIME said Obama, ” … overcame a lack of experience, a funny name, two candidates who are political institutions, and the racial divide to become the 44th President of the United States.”

“It’s unlikely that you were surprised to see Obama’s face on the cover,” writes TIME’s David Von Drehle. “He has come to dominate the public sphere so completely that it beggars belief to recall that half the people in America had never heard of him two years ago — that even his campaign manager, at the outset, wasn’t sure Obama had what it would take to win the election.”
