Black Eyed Peas, Miley Cyrus lead singles chart

The Black Eyed Peas' "Boom Boom Pow" led Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart for a second week on Thursday, while box office champ "Hannah Montana: The Movie" accounted for six tunes on the tally.

"Hannah Montana" star Miley Cyrus' "The Climb" rose two places to No. 8. "Hoedown Throwdown," also from the movie, jumped 34 places to No. 28. Co-star Taylor Swift's "Crazier" climbed 31 places to No. 38.

Miley Cyrus & Billy Ray Cyrus' "Butterfly Fly Away" debuted at No. 72. "Let's Get Crazy" re-entered at No. 75, and "You'll Always Find Your Way Back Home" moved up nine to No. 88. Both are credited to Cyrus' alter ego Hannah Montana. The soundtrack album jumped three places to No. 2 on the Billboard 200, which as published on Wednesday.

After the Peas, the top tier of the Hot 100 was barely changed, with Lady GaGa's "Poker Face" holding at No. 2; Flo Rida's "Right Round" at No. 3; Soulja Boy Tell'em featuring Sammie's "Kiss Me Thru The Phone" at No. 4; Jamie Foxx featuring T-Pain's "Blame It" at No. 5; T.I. featuring Justin Timberlake's "Dead and Gone" at No. 6; Kid Cudi's "Day 'N' Nite" at No. 7; and the Fray at No. 9 with "You Found Me." The All-American Rejects fell two to No. 10 with "Gives You Hell."

Top-debut honors went to Kellie Pickler's "Best Days Of Your Life," which entered at No. 50 after the 2006 "American Idol" finalist appeared on the show's April 8 episode.

Madonna Tops 2009 Music Money Makers List

If anyone had any doubt that touring is where the money is in the music business, a quick look at the top Moneymakers for 2008 should hammer the point home.

Regardless of genre, retail sales or radio play, each of the 20 acts on Billboard's Moneymakers list toured in 2008. (Taylor Swift mostly opened for Brad Paisley but doesn't get credit for that revenue). For almost all of them, touring generated the most revenue. And in a year when recorded-music sales declined yet again, many earned more at the box office than ever before.

The top five Moneymakers are also the five acts that earned the most on tour, and in the same order, according to Billboard Boxscore. Eight of the top 10 Moneymakers are in the Boxscore top 10.

Even more remarkably, the top Moneymaker -- Madonna -- only had the 50th-best-selling album in the country. She ranked 14th on the list of digital track sellers and didn't place on the ringmasters chart. Her place on Moneymakers, like her $242,176,466 income, comes from the highest-earning tour that took place in 2008.

‘As I Am’ by Alicia Keys is Best Selling Album of 2008

Both Billboard and Nielsen agree, Alicia Keys’ “As I Am” is the top selling album of 2008.

“As I Am” is Alicia Key’s third studio album which was released late last year. It has sold 742,000 copies in its first week. This made Keys’ third consecutive multi-platinum studio album in the U.S. The album spawned four singles; two of them became number-one hits on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, while the others entered the top three and the top fifteen respectively. The album was ranked the best album and also the best R&B album of 2008 by Billboard

Alicia Keys‘ single “No One”, on the other hand, is the most listened-to radio song of the year, “No One,” which drew 3.08 billion radio listeners between November 12, 2007 through November 16, 2008.

“Low,” by Flo Rida, featuring T-Pain, was the most downloaded song of the year, through November 16.
